Gaughan's
O'Rahilly Street, Ballina, Co. Mayo
About
Gaughan's on O'Rahilly Street is one of Ballina's great old bars, family-run since the 1930s, with a dark wood interior, a snug, and a reputation as the last bar in town to keep its own snuff on the counter. It does simple, good bar food (the toasted sandwiches and the soup are the order) and pulls a careful pint. This is the genuine article, a traditional Mayo pub that has resisted the urge to modernise, and the better for it.
