Brabazon Restaurant at Tankardstown
Tankardstown House, Rathkenny, Slane, Co. Meath, C15 D535
About
Brabazon is the restaurant on the Tankardstown estate at Rathkenny, a little under six kilometres north-west of the village, and it sits in what the house calls the Garden Village, a courtyard behind the eighteenth-century manor with its own entrance. It serves lunch, afternoon tea and evening dinner, and the menu leans on the estate's kitchen garden and polytunnels. Two things to know before driving out. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays every week. And Tankardstown is a busy wedding venue: on wedding days the gate between the Garden Village and the main house stays shut, so the restaurant is reachable but the house and gardens are not. Afternoon tea is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 17 October. Ring the house to book; this is a country-house restaurant rather than somewhere to arrive unannounced.
