Bantry Injury Unit opens 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, and treats people aged 5 and over only. It does not take ambulances, life-threatening emergencies, or injuries to the chest, abdomen or pelvis.

It treats broken bones, sprains, minor burns, wounds and minor head injuries, and costs 75 euro unless you hold a medical card or have a GP or Emergency Department referral. It does not treat injuries to the chest, abdomen or pelvis, serious head or spine injuries, or any life-threatening emergency. The number listed above is the hospital switchboard. The nearest full Emergency Department is Cork University Hospital, open 24 hours for all ages, roughly 87km / about 1 hour 15 to 30 minutes by road via Bandon or Macroom depending on traffic and route.
For a life-threatening emergency dial 112 or 999; an ambulance will take you to Cork University Hospital, not to Bantry. Bantry Injury Unit direct line +353 27 54836, open 8am to 8pm daily, age 5 and over, cost 75 euro unless you hold a medical card or have a GP or Emergency Department referral. Outside those hours, and for any child under 5, the nearest option is Cork University Hospital. Attending an Emergency Department costs 100 euro without a medical card or GP referral. On the Sheep's Head Way or any exposed coastal section, mention you need Mountain Rescue or the Coast Guard when you call, as mobile coverage is patchy on the ridge.
