Bray with Kids: Seafront, Sea Life, and a Farm Market
A family guide to Bray: the Blue Flag beach, the aquarium, Killruddery's farm market, and the summer Air Display.
Bray was built as a seaside resort, which makes it an easy day out with children. The seafront promenade is flat and stroller-friendly the whole way, and the south end of the beach holds Blue Flag status, so it is the cleaner stretch for a paddle or a run-around. The sea is cold even in summer, so manage expectations on the swimming.
For a guaranteed win, the National Sea Life Centre sits right on Strand Road, a few steps off the prom. Tanks of native and tropical marine life, including sharks and rays, make it the reliable any-weather option for younger children. Check current prices and opening hours on their website before you go.
For something different, head south of the town to Killruddery, the historic Brabazon estate. Its Saturday farm market in the yard is free to browse and good for snacks, and the grounds give space to roam. And if you are in Bray on the first weekend of August, the Bray Air Display turns the whole seafront into a free open-air show of jets and aerobatics over the bay. It is the busiest day of the year, so come early and keep little ones close in the crowds.
