It is 26 miles from St Andrews and about 45 minutes' drive. St Andrews Community Hospital on Largo Road is not an A&E and cannot treat serious cases. Its Minor Injury Unit opens Monday to Friday only, 08:00 to 17:00, and is closed at weekends and on public holidays. It is appointment-only: you must call NHS 24 on 111 to be given a slot, and the doors are closed to patients without an appointment from 15:00. In the evening, at a weekend or on a public holiday there is no local injury service in St Andrews at all, and Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, 45 minutes away, is the nearest place you can be seen. In a life-threatening emergency call 999 and wait for the ambulance rather than driving.
