Whitstable's town centre is largely flat and walkable, unlike hillier Kent towns, but the High Street and Harbour Street can be busy and narrow-paved in summer, and the shingle beach itself is not wheelchair-friendly beyond the promenade.
For venue-level access, contact each place directly. The seafront promenade between the harbour and Tankerton is flat and a genuinely accessible walking route; the beach and The Street's shingle are not.

The nearest 24-hour Accident and Emergency departments are Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital (QEQM), St Peter's Road, Margate, CT9 4AN, 17 miles away and about 30 minutes' drive, and William Harvey Hospital, Kennington Road, Willesborough, Ashford, TN24 0LZ, 22 miles and about 35 minutes. QEQM is the closer of the two. Both are run by East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. For injuries and illness that are not life-threatening, the Estuary View Urgent Treatment Centre in Whitstable itself, Boorman Way, CT5 3SE, 01227 284309, is a walk-in service open 08:00 to 20:00 every day of the year, but it is not an A&E and does not receive ambulances. When Estuary View is closed, the Urgent Treatment Centre at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Ethelbert Road, Canterbury, CT1 3NG, is 9 miles away and about 20 minutes' drive and takes minor injuries 24 hours a day, with its GP and minor illness service running 08:00 to midnight. Kent and Canterbury Hospital has no A&E either, so anything serious still means Margate or Ashford.

Open 08:00 to 20:00, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Walk-in, no appointment needed, and it sees anyone regardless of where they are registered, so visitors can use it. It handles minor illness and injury, suspected fractures, head injuries, burns and scalds, cuts, allergic reactions, bites and stings, sprains and strains, and has X-ray on site. It is not an A&E: it does not receive ambulances and cannot treat serious or life-threatening cases, which need 999 or the A&E at Margate or Ashford. When it is closed, the Urgent Treatment Centre at Kent and Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury takes minor injuries around the clock.
Whitstable Medical Practice (Estuary View Medical Centre)
The main GP practice for Whitstable, on the same site as the Urgent Treatment Centre. Visitors who are not registered locally should call NHS 111 first.
For urgent but non-life-threatening medical advice call NHS 111, free and 24 hours, which can direct you to the right service. Life-threatening emergencies: 999 or 112. The hospital number given is the QEQM Margate switchboard. NHS prescriptions in England carry a per-item charge, unlike Scotland and Wales where they are free.

Additional pay-and-display parking serves the town centre and seafront; the harbour and High Street fill quickly on a summer weekend, especially during the September Oyster Festival.
