Travelling to Dingle by train

Getting to Dingle

How to reach Dingle by bus, or car.

Bus & Coach

Dingle has no train station, so the bus is the public-transport way in. Bus Éireann route 275 runs between Tralee and Dingle via Camp, taking about an hour, and connects with the wider rail and coach network at Tralee. There is no direct Bus Éireann route from Killarney; the Killarney connection is the Local Link 276 service via Inch and Annascaul.

Tips

  • Route 275 from Tralee is the main public route into Dingle.
  • Tralee is the nearest rail and coach hub; change there for onward travel.
  • Check the latest Bus Éireann and Local Link timetables; rural frequencies are limited.

Driving

Most visitors arrive and get around by car. The standard all-vehicle route into Dingle is the N86 from Tralee, via Camp, Annascaul and Lispole. The scenic alternative is the R560 over the Conor Pass, but that road bans vehicles longer than about 7.2m, so no coaches or large campervans, and it can close in ice. From the south, the R561 runs in along the bay via Inch. The town centre is compact and congested in summer.

From Tralee

From Killarney
~1h 15m via Castlemaine and the N86 or the R561 via Inch
From Cork

Tips

  • The N86 from Tralee is the route for all vehicles; the Conor Pass is scenic but restricted.
  • Park at the Marina or Mart car parks on the edge and walk into the small centre.
  • Slea Head and the Conor Pass are slow, narrow roads; allow more time than the distance suggests.
