About
An Anglo-Norman royal fortification founded in the 1180s at the mouth of the River Colligan, with a distinctive polygonal shell keep and an 18th-century barracks now housing an exhibition. Managed by the OPW as a National Monument, with free entry and free guided tours. The season runs roughly May to September.
