Getting to Cobh
How to reach Cobh by DART, bus, taxi, or car.
Rail
Cobh is the terminus of the Cork suburban rail line, and the train is the easiest way in. Services run from Cork Kent Station down to Cobh in about twenty-five minutes, roughly every hour and more often at peak times, seven days a week. The line runs along the water for much of the way and the Cobh station is the same Victorian building the emigrants left from, right on the waterfront beside the Heritage Centre. The live departure board on this site shows the next trains back to Cork.

Bus
The town bus link is the Cork Cobh Connect, Route 200, run by Barry's Coaches between Cork city centre (St Patrick's Quay) and Cobh, roughly hourly and about forty minutes end to end. Bus Éireann does not run directly into Cobh town, so the train or the Route 200 are the public-transport options from the city. Within the town everything central is walkable.

Driving
Cobh is on Great Island, reached by road from the Dunkettle Interchange east of Cork city: follow the N25 and the Cobh signs across the Belvelly bridge onto the island, less than twenty minutes from Dunkettle. The town climbs steeply off the water and the streets are narrow and old, so the sensible move is to park on the waterfront and walk. Car hire is at Cork Airport rather than in the town.
- From Cork
- About 25 minutes from Cork city via the N25 and the Cobh road
- From Airport
- About 25-30 minutes from Cork Airport via Cork and the N25
- Parking
- Waterfront pay-and-display and the free Five Foot Way car park near the station; both fill on cruise-ship days
- Note
- The town is steep and narrow; park once on the waterfront and walk.
Tips
- •Park on the waterfront and walk; the upper town is steep and tight
- •The free Five Foot Way car park is near the station and Heritage Centre
- •Waterfront parking fills early on cruise-ship and regatta days
