Killarney National Park on Foot: a Half Day
The best of the park without a car, walking straight in from the town. Get your bearings at the visitor centre, walk the Knockreer estate down to the lake and out to Ross Castle, then back into town for a feed of fresh fish. Flat, free and doable in a morning or an afternoon.

Killarney House & Gardens
Start at the free visitor centre just inside the park gates off the Muckross Road. The interactive exhibition is the best quick primer on the park, and the formal gardens frame the view straight to the Reeks.

The Classic Killarney Day: the Gap of Dunloe
The day people have been coming to Killarney to do since the Victorians: out to the Gap of Dunloe, across the pass between the highest mountains in Ireland, and back over the three lakes by open boat to Ross Castle. Round it off with the town's best seafood. A summer-season day, weather and boat dependent, so book ahead.
- 110:00·3-4 hours
Into the Gap of Dunloe
Join the bus-boat-jaunting-car trip out to Kate Kearney's Cottage and cross the glacial pass between the Reeks and the Purple Mountain by jaunting car, on foot or by bike.

The boat back across the lakes
Pick up the open boat at Lord Brandon's Cottage and travel down through the Upper Lake, Muckross Lake and Lough Leane to the pier at Ross Castle, the most scenic way back there is.

Ross Castle and back to town
Land at Ross Castle, have a look around the point, and walk or cycle the easy route back into the town centre.
