Catbells from Hawes End
About
The fell across the lake from Keswick, the one with the ridge you can see from the boat landings. The launch's Hawes End jetty is the stop for the main walk up. The route goes up a stepped path from the lane by the cattle grid, with some scrambling over rock near the top, then over the summit to a crossroads where a bridleway zig-zags back down; thelakedistrict.org grades it a medium-difficulty fell because the first section is steep. The free parking near Hawes End is a few spaces on the side of a narrow lane and fills very quickly in busy periods, which is the main reason to take the boat.
