Friar's Crag
2.5km there and back · Level elevation
About
The short walk from the theatre along the lake shore to the rocky point that looks down Derwentwater towards Catbells and the Jaws of Borrowdale. The National Park Authority lists it as a 2.5km route there and back: follow the road from the theatre to the foreshore, carry on along the stone track past the boat landings, and take the right fork at the finger post for Friar's Crag. The last bit down to the viewpoint is narrow with a steep drop, so mind children and dogs. The Authority currently grades the route 'for some' rather than 'for all', because of potholes and steps of up to 70mm, and says a damaged section is unsafe for wheels while the National Trust repairs it.
